Who I teach?
I provide dyslexia tuition in Somerset for children and young people who may be finding aspects of learning challenging. I work with families and young people in Glastonbury and across Somerset, and have experience supporting students in local schools.
This includes:
-
KS1 & KS2 pupils who need support with phonics, reading, spelling, and writing
-
KS3 students who need help with reading comprehension, inference, and structuring their written work
-
KS4 students who would benefit from support with revision strategies, exam preparation, and organising their ideas
I also support children who:
-
Are not making expected progress despite effort
-
Lack confidence in their learning
-
Need a more personalised, structured approach
Pre-Tuition
Before tuition begins, I carry out an initial assessment to understand your child’s current level, identify any gaps, and pinpoint where support is needed.
This assessment is more detailed than a general screener and looks closely at key literacy skills, including:
-
phonics knowledge and sound patterns
-
spelling development
-
high-frequency word reading and spelling
-
sentence construction and writing
-
areas of difficulty in reading
This allows me to create a personalised programme, ensuring teaching is targeted and effective from the very start.
Where?
Tuition can take place in a range of settings.

Suzy is amazing. My son is really enjoying his tuition and, for the first time, feels he is learning.
She has already helped him organise his thoughts and build confidence in his writing. Highly recommended.

We’re really pleased with how Suzy works with R. We’ve seen clear progress, and he responds well to her calm and supportive approach.
Testimonials
My son has only recently started with Suzy, but he has already understood more in a few sessions than he has in years at school.
Suzy has a real talent for making things clear and easy to grasp. Friendly, calm, and highly recommended.
Parent, Somerset area
Suzy has supported my daughter with GCSE English and made a real difference in a short time.
Her confidence and understanding have both improved, and her recent mock result reflects that progress.
Suzy is approachable, knowledgeable, and always well prepared — I would highly recommend her.
